How we verify release dates
Sources we accept
A date goes on HumansWaiting only when the company releasing it has announced it: the publisher, developer, studio, distributor, network, streaming service, or an official store listing. When a major trade outlet reports an announcement, we link to the original whenever it exists.
We do not publish leaks, rumours, insider claims, or retailer placeholder dates such as 31 December.
How precise a date is
- Date and time confirmed: an exact moment was announced. The countdown runs to the second, in your time zone.
- Local time in each region: it unlocks at the same local time everywhere (often midnight), so it arrives earlier in Asia than in the Americas. Your countdown assumes your store region matches where you are.
- Date confirmed: a day was announced but not a time. We count whole days and say the time is not known.
- Official window: only a month, quarter, half-year or year was announced. No ticking clock.
- No date yet: officially announced, with no date or window.
Delays and changes
When a date changes, we update the page and add an entry to its date history with a link to the source. We only hide a history entry when it fixed our own typo.
Checking
Every page shows when an editor last checked it against the source. If something looks wrong, use the "Spotted a wrong date?" form on the page; reports go straight to our editors.
